Distance calculations between points on geographic grids: cost distance, resistance distance, and other complex distances.
The package gdistance implements geographic distance calculations on grids. Implemented measures include cost distance, resistance distance and joint-flow distance (a new similarity measure). Calculations are made in different steps allowing full flexibility. It uses classes and functionality from the raster package.
